At Healing Roots, we don’t believe school has to start at 8 a.m.
We don’t believe learning only happens between bells.
And we certainly don’t believe every family should be expected to follow the same routine.
Instead, we ask a different question:
What rhythm actually works for you?
Our model was created for families who live outside the box—families who travel, homeschool, work irregular hours, or simply want a slower, more peaceful pace. And we’ve seen time and time again: when the school day fits your life, everything changes.
There’s no single right way to structure your Healing Roots day. Some families rise with the sun and finish lessons by mid-morning. Others learn in the evenings, between nature walks and cooking dinner.
Some examples we’ve seen:
A student watches a recorded math class after lunch, then heads outside for a nature journal entry.
A traveling family joins a live morning circle from a new time zone each week.
A child who struggles with focus uses movement breaks every 20 minutes and completes writing tasks while snuggled under a blanket.
A group of siblings collaborate on a science project in the afternoon, after morning chores are done.
Each one of these is valid. Each one is school.
Flexible doesn’t mean unstructured. At Healing Roots, we provide:
Weekly learning plans and mentor guidance
Clear expectations and support with pacing
Suggested daily rhythms for those who want them
Check-ins to keep students (and parents) feeling grounded
But how you apply it? That’s where your freedom lives.
We believe in a school day that makes room for:
Mid-morning hikes
Doctor appointments
Cooking as a family
Time zones that shift with your travels
Slow mornings or early nights
Cultural exploration and seasonal changes
Your child isn’t behind if their “school day” looks different.
They’re learning because it looks different.
"For the first time, we’re not rushing. My child is learning more—and enjoying it—because we’re not constantly fighting the clock. Healing Roots gave us permission to breathe."
At Healing Roots, we don’t hand you a one-size-fits-all schedule.
We invite you to co-create a flow that honors your child’s energy, your family’s needs, and the season of life you’re in.
Because the best school days don’t follow someone else’s timeline.
They follow your own.
