If you asked our students what makes Healing Roots feel different, many wouldn’t point to the flexible schedule or even the personalized projects.
They’d say this: “Circle.”
Every week, students gather in a virtual space not just to learn, but to connect.
We call them Weekly Circles—but they’re more than a routine.
They’re a heartbeat.
Circles are where our community takes a breath.
Where students feel seen, not scanned.
Where the goal isn’t productivity—it’s presence.
A Weekly Circle is a regular virtual gathering where students and mentors come together to:
There’s no pressure to perform. No right answers.
Just a calm, consistent space where every voice matters.
In traditional school, it’s easy to feel invisible.
In fast-paced virtual models, it’s easy to feel disconnected.
Circles change that. They offer:
For some learners, it’s the one time all week they feel fully heard. That’s not small—it’s transformational.
Every circle has its own flow, but you might hear:
Some circles include art, music, mindfulness, or journaling. Others include laughter, silence, or tears.
What’s consistent is the care. The listening. The honoring of each child’s journey.
"I used to hate talking in groups. But in Circle, I don’t feel nervous. I feel like people actually care what I have to say."
Circles help students build:
These aren’t extras.
They’re life skills.
And they’re woven into the fabric of how we do school.
At Healing Roots, we don’t believe in “checking the box.”
We believe in checking in with each other.
That’s what Circle is.
A pause. A presence. A practice of community that goes deeper than curriculum.
Because when children feel connected, they feel safe.
And when they feel safe, they’re free to learn, grow, and become.
Together.
