ACADEMICS

EXPLORATORY, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING DELIVERED ANYWHERE

At Healing Roots Online School for K-12th grade, our learning model comes alive through our exploratory lessons – our integrated units of study. We strive to create meaningful, inquiry-based teaching practices, explore design-thinking measures, and extend learning through the various local-to-global contexts.

CLASSICAL CURRICULUM FOR FIRM ACADEMIC FOUNDATIONS

We offer a solid classical curriculum coupled with great teachers and student engagement and involvement which gives students relevance and context for more effective learning. Students benefit because they learn more due to increased interest and engagement and are more willing to take responsibility for their own learning and teachers are valued to use their creativity, experience, and understanding of child-development to meet every student at the right time with the appropriate experience.

PLACE-BASED PRINCIPLES ARE AT THE CORE OF WHAT WE DO

Students will engage in interdisciplinary & learner-centered work where the outdoors and local communities serve as an extension of our classrooms. Students will take an active role in their community through participating in numerous service projects.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE, ART AND MUSIC IMMERSION

The cornerstones of our school, which set us apart, are the immersion of Foreign Language, art and music from the earliest years. Developing and strengthening those parts of the brain just as most schools do with Math and ELA. We focus on strengthening the whole being. Every child that attends HROS will be accomplished at not only the core academic subjects but have proficiency in foreign language, art  and music.

SAMPLE PRE-RECORDED CLASS

"My son is in the 3rd grade at HROS and was new to the school this year.  He has transitioned wonderfully.  He enjoys school and looks forward to getting online each day.  He is not tired or overwrought and seems genuinely happy.  I am very glad we chose HROS for him, and we are planning on sending our two daughters next year.  Thanks, HROS, for doing what you do!"
